Heather Sutherland

Heather has been an integral part of GHL for an impressive 36 years, bringing decades of experience, dedication, and leadership to her role as Office Manager. With a career in the field spanning 40 years, she is the backbone of the Firm’s daily operations, ensuring everything runs seamlessly.

Heather holds a Certificate III in Financial Services, which she obtained in 2011, further enhancing her expertise in managing the financial and administrative aspects of the Firm. Her role as Office Manager is dynamic, encompassing routine tasks and unexpected challenges, all of which she approaches with professionalism and enthusiasm.

What Heather values most about her role is the strong sense of community at GHL. She affectionately refers to her colleagues as her “other family” and enjoys the camaraderie and collaborative environment that the Firm fosters.

In her spare time

Heather is an avid sports enthusiast who loves playing field hockey and golf. She also finds joy in gardening, where she nurtures her green thumb and enjoys the tranquillity it brings.

Eliza Berrigan

Eliza is a Senior Legal Assistant at GHL, where she directly supports Partner Jason Green and Senior Lawyer John Ferguson.

After completing her Diploma in Business Administration in 2013, Eliza embarked on her legal career in early 2014 as an Office Coordinator. It was in this role that she first developed her passion for legal support within the legal sector.

In 2016, Eliza relocated to the Northern Territory and advanced her career in legal assistant roles, gaining experience across diverse areas of law, including both litigated and non-litigated workers’ compensation claims, personal injury, civil litigation, medical negligence, wills and estates, leasing disputes, employment law, and public liability claims.

Working in a multicultural environment, she refined her skills in assisting with complex, sensitive cases across varied legal disciplines.
Since joining GHL in 2019, Eliza has become an integral member of the team, known for her dedication, attention to detail, and commitment to client care in often sensitive matters. She thrives in a fast-paced work environment, consistently delivering high-quality support and demonstrating unwavering professionalism. She has broadened her legal knowledge to provide valuable support to the solicitors at GHL in navigating complex taxation and insolvency matters.

Outside of work, Eliza loves exploring the best local cafes and restaurants and considers herself a keen critic of French martinis.

Michelle Camilleri

Michelle has been a cornerstone of GHL since 1993, bringing nearly three decades of dedicated service to her role as a Senior Legal Assistant. With a career in the legal field that began in 1984, she combines extensive experience with a deep commitment to client care and professional excellence.

Michelle has completed a Secretarial Business Course at TAFE and a Legal Secretarial Course at the Law Society of NSW, equipping her with the skills and expertise to navigate the complexities of legal administration. Her role involves a diverse range of responsibilities, and she thrives on the unique challenges that each day presents.

What Michelle loves most about her role at GHL is the opportunity to work directly with clients and tackle new challenges daily. She values the strong relationships she has built with her colleagues over the years and credits the Firm’s supportive and collaborative work culture for making GHL a truly special place to work.

Michelle enjoys relaxing and spending quality time with her family and pets. Whether at home or the beach, she finds joy in connecting with loved ones and embracing the peaceful moments in life.

Ashleigh Abbott

Ash has been an integral member of GHL since May 2017, bringing over 11 years of experience in the legal field to her role as a Senior Legal Assistant. Her career began in 2012 as a legal secretary and paralegal for a sole practitioner on the Gold Coast, where she developed her expertise in conveyancing and legal administration. After moving to Sydney and taking maternity leave, Ash joined the GHL team, where she continues to excel in her role.

Ash holds an Associate Degree in Law (Paralegal Studies) with a major in Conveyancing, which she completed at Southern Cross University in November 2013. Her academic background and practical experience make her highly skilled in assisting clients through both residential and commercial conveyancing matters. One of the highlights of her role is calling clients to let them know their property transaction has successfully settled.

What Ash loves most about working at GHL is the supportive and friendly environment, as well as the opportunity to work locally. She thrives on staying busy and enjoys the variety her role offers, especially the satisfaction of helping clients navigate their property transactions.

Ash enjoys spending quality time with her husband and sons, embracing the outdoors, and relaxing at the beach.

Melinda Hancock

Mel began her journey with GHL in 1988, working until the birth of her first child in 1995. She returned intermittently between raising her family, contributing her skills for several years until the birth of her third child. After gaining additional experience elsewhere, Mel rejoined GHL 14 years ago and has been a valued member of Jodie’s team ever since.

Mel has been a legal secretary since the age of 17, starting her career in the city before joining GHL. With decades of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to her role.

Mel holds a Certificate III in Legal Studies (Legal Secretary), which she obtained early in her career.

Mel values the strong emphasis on family at GHL, where work-life balance is a priority. The flexibility to attend family events and manage commitments has made her time at GHL fulfilling. Additionally, working close to home is an added benefit that she appreciates.

Mel enjoys spending quality moments with her family, friends, and her one-year-old grandson. She also loves holidaying in Forster, a destination close to her heart.

Kerrin Pickup

Kerrin is a valued member of GHL, providing outstanding support in reception and client services. Her journey with the Firm began in the 1990s, where she worked full-time before taking a break to raise her family of four. In 2012, Kerrin rejoined the team part-time, continuing her longstanding contribution to the Firm.

With a career in the legal field that started when she was 16, Kerrin brings decades of experience and a professional yet approachable demeanour to her role. She is instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the office and is often the first point of contact for clients, creating a welcoming and supportive environment.

Kerrin thrives in the positive atmosphere at GHL and values the strong camaraderie among her colleagues, many of whom have become lifelong friends. Her dedication to client service and her role in fostering the Firm’s great vibe are a testament to her commitment.

Kerrin enjoys spending time with her family and friends, staying active through walking and exercising, and maintaining a healthy, social lifestyle.

Beth Bullivant

Beth has been a valued member of GHL since July 2017, bringing over 42 years of experience in secretarial, administrative, and client services roles across various industries. Her extensive career includes working with law firms, architectural practices, sports marketing organisations and construction companies, as well as holding personal assistant roles in the UK and Singapore.

Throughout her career, Beth has undertaken a variety of professional courses in secretarial work, marketing, and accounts, enhancing her skills and adaptability in diverse roles. Her ability to manage a wide range of tasks with efficiency and professionalism has made her an integral part of the GHL team.

What Beth loves most about her role at GHL is the variety of tasks that keep each day unique and engaging, as well as the friendly and supportive team environment. Her positive attitude and commitment to excellent client service ensure that every visitor feels welcome and well-supported.

Beth leads an active lifestyle. She enjoys swimming laps, deep-water aerobics, walking, Pilates, yoga, and going to the gym. She also loves spending time at the beach, making the most of her time outdoors.

Natasha Jennings

Tash joined GHL in 2020, bringing her enthusiasm and dedication to her role on reception and in client services. With a background in customer service dating back to when she was 16, Tash has developed excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for helping people.

At GHL, Tash thrives in the positive and dynamic work environment, surrounded by intelligent and engaging colleagues. She takes pride in assisting clients with a variety of needs, ensuring every interaction is handled with care and professionalism.
